What NHS career would suit you?

Clinical Systems Training and Development Officer

THE WORKING DAY

You are delivering a course today – 9am start. You arrive at the training room to set up and welcome the attendees to the course. You deliver the session, answering questions and providing support throughout, signing off those who have done enough to pass, and putting supportive measures in place for those who have not.

In the afternoon, you work on updating training materials to a course, making amendments to lesson plans, workshops, help guides, and eLearning packages. During this, you receive a support call from a nurse working on a ward who is having trouble finding a patient. After checking their training record, you provide remote support to the nurse and resolve the issue.

You get instruction that a new piece of work requires some urgent input from the training team, a help guide needs developing. You liaise with the relevant team members to understand the requirement and you begin to develop the guide content.

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE ME?

You have strong communication and presenting skills and have an interest in I.T. systems. You enjoy engaging and supporting people.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Entry level as a Training Officer delivering existing training module will require a diploma level qualifications or equivalent NHS experience as a Clinical Systems User. In addition, the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) qualification and experience of working with Microsoft applications will be required.

An awareness of the training delivery cycle and techniques will benefit you.
