We have created five important materials which will help fill the current gap in knowledge and provide guidance for the management of Cancer Associated Thrombosis (CAT). These materials include:
- A training booklet for AHPs and HCPs.
- A pack with recommendations on which risk assessments scores to use for different types of CAT.
- A case-study booklet with questions intended to challenge the trainee AHPs.
- An accompanying handout with suggested answers to the questions.
- A patient information leaflet (PIL) about CAT which is a wealth of easy-to-read information.
Patient education is an important aspect of the Cancer and CAT services in the three Trusts involved in this project and we are excited to roll out the leaflet to our patients.
We joined together with HUTH’S Medical Education Department and Drama Group to create an educational video. The video includes four scenarios commonly encountered in CAT clinics with voiceovers by an oncologist (A. Maraveyas) and pharmacists (K. Power and N. Hutchinson-Jones). View training video below.
